Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Clear Poison Clouds (BG3)

Poison in the wind.

Dealing with various dangerous elements is part of the fun of Baldur’s Gate 3, but clearing a poison cloud isn’t too straightforward. In this BG3 guide, we’ll give you a couple of easy ways to clear any gas cloud so your party can travel unscathed in each zone.

How to Clear Poison Clouds in Baldur’s Gate 3

You can clear poison clouds in Baldur’s Gate 3 by using spells like Fog Cloud and Gust of Wind. These spells will either push all of the poison gas out of the way or completely replace it with a fog that benefits your party instead. Fog Clouds are more common out of both options, but we would use whatever you have in higher supply.

Druid characters tend to have more access to the Gust of Wind spell, while wizard-based classes will likely have Fog Cloud. However, you can find scrolls for these spells in Baldur’s Gate 3 as well. They can be purchased or found all over the map. We have a few Fog Cloud scrolls on our Fighter that are easy to cast in a pinch for standard action points.

Tip:

Companion druids like Halsin and Jaheira have access to the spells Fog Cloud and Gust of Wind.

In some cases, you can light poison clouds on fire, especially when they are naturally occurring. These tend to set off chain reactions when they work, but not all poison clouds are the same in BG3. Sometimes setting the environment on fire just isn’t the answer.

How to Get Rid of the Poison Cloud in Grymforge

In areas like the Grymforge as well, poison clouds can be linked to problems like vents, and those require some dice rolls or disarm tools rather than spells and fire. We like to use Astarion to solve these problems, but any decent Rogue will work in BG3.

The fastest, easiest way to get rid of the poison cloud in Grymforge is by putting an item on top of the vent. You can pretty much use anything, from crates to books. Make sure you throw the item right on top of the vent, which will stop the gases from coming out.

How To Remove Noxious Fumes

Noxious Fumes almost always come from some kind of trap. You’ll need to discover the trap and disarm it to remove these fumes. In general, you can light the fumes on fire with any fire-based spell or item, such as torches, so you can pass through the area.

You’ll likely have to pass some poison clouds for some rare roses as well, and we have a full guide for finding Corpse Roses in Baldur’s Gate 3.
