What Item Should You Make at the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3?  – Answered

You’ve conquered the forge’s guardian. You’ve found all six moulds, and three Mithril Ore, and now you’re faced with the hardest decision yet. Which of the six moulds will give you the best bang for your buck?

The answer, perhaps unsurprisingly, is the Armor and Shield. That’s to say, use the Splint Mould, Scale Mail Mould, and Shield Mould.

The reason for this is that there is no shortage of very powerful weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3, and you may have already found weapons that outshine the Mithril ones you’d be crafting. On the other hand, Armor and shields are much harder to come by, which means they’ll be on your team much longer than the weapons.

Shield Bash: When a foe hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction, to knock it prone unless they succeed a Dexterity Saving Throw.   Immune to Critical Hits.

The only disadvantage to crafting the armor is that they tend to be heavy, so you’ll take a disadvantage on stealth rolls. But this is well worth it, as your characters will also never take critical hits and will take -2 damage reduction from all sources.

Still, the armor and shield will likely find a place on one of your melee-based characters well into Act 3. Whereas your Mithril weapons will either be sold or sent back to camp sooner than you might expect.
