Warhammer 40K: Darktide follows up Fatshark’s previous two titles, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and Warhammer: Vermintide 2. In the case of the latter title, a ton of content is packed in with numerous maps, classes, subclasses, and weapons to try out. That’s not even including DLCs, which add even more to the repertoire. With this in mind, you may wonder if some of its features are available in its latest title. Here’s whether there are subclasses in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
Are Any Subclasses in Darktide Yet?
As of writing, Darktide does not feature any subclasses beyond the first one for each character. These are Sharpshooter for the Veteran, Skullbreaker for the Ogryn, Preacher for the Zealot, and Psykinetic for the Psyker. Each subclass comes with its primary ability (i.e. Volley Fire for Sharpshooter) along with several passives and a selection of feats, so you can expect any subclasses that may release to have different forms of these. You can also expect each subclass to only be able to use certain weapons, so be ready to lose some weapons but gain some others.
As for if and when subclasses will come to the game, we can expect subclasses to come to the game at some point. As of a previous statement from Fatshark’s developers, the team plans to release one new subclass per quarter. This means we’ll likely see a new subclass for one of the characters early in 2023, with all four characters having a new subclass by the end of 2023. This is barring any delays of course, as was somewhat the case with Vermintide 2 where numerous delays lead to subclasses being slowly pushed out.

Regardless, the prospect of new subclasses is an exciting thing! If they end up being anything like Vermintide, they’ll bring different playstyles and gameplay advantages, further adding to the game’s replayability. As for what each subclass will do, that’s another question entirely. If you have any cool ideas, be sure to let us know.
