Teal Mask Version Exclusive Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Gotta trade them all

Pokemon is not dropping its tradition of locking certain pocket creatures to a different edition than yours. It makes them extra money at the end of the day. And unsurprisingly, it’s also happening in the recent The Teal Mask DLC for the Generation IX games, although to a lesser extent. Some Pokemon can only be found in specific versions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and here is a complete list of all Teal Mask version exclusives for those games.

In a huge contrast to the base game, there are only six version exclusive Pokemon in The Teal Mask. This is due to the expanded Kitakami Pokedex being mostly composed of Pokemon that were already available in the base game. You’ll only need to trade for a small portion of the newcomers, and that’s a huge relief.

You can find these little guys as the version exclusives when playing The Teal Mask in a Pokemon Scarlet copy:

  • Gligar
  • Gliscor
  • Cramorant

Alternatively, you’ll meet with these slightly different version exclusives if you’re visiting Kitakami in have Pokemon Violet:

  • Aipom
  • Ambipom
  • Morpeko

Aipom and Gligar can be evolved naturally once you get them, so no need for three separate trades. Morpeko and Cramorant have no further forms, so don’t worry about them.

They can all be found rather early in both games, next to Mossui Town. I ran into both of my Violet exclusives in the Wistful Fields west of it, but I also witnessed Aipom on the road leading to the Kitakami Hall. The locations for Gligar and Cramorant should be roughly the same.

Fortunately, these are the only exclusives we have for now, so you won’t have to worry about searching and trading for more of them for a while. Or at least until The Indigo Disk comes out later during Winter this year.

So, as soon as you get your hands on them, get a few extras to share with your friends who own a different version unless you’re lucky enough to have everyone you know having the same version as you. You’ll suffer a little bit more in that case.

The first half of the DLC increased the base Pokedex by around 25%, so we ended up not getting a lot of version exclusives in The Teal Mask. Things might be different when the second half of the DLC arrives, so let’s keep our eyes open for that. But for now, take a look at everything you can catch in Kitakami.
