All Materials Required for Ascending Yaoyao in Genshin Impact

Happy New Year to the Rabbit and the Cat

Is it possible that Genshin Impact waited to release Yaoyao until it was the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese Zodiac? It’s entirely possible, a franchise like this really does love to cater to its aesthetics. It’s also incredibly suiting given that Dendro is now an official Element that has been out for a while and it’s reached its time to give the mono team a chance by introducing a healer. Here are all the materials required for ascending Yaoyao in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact – Back the Dendro Cube We Go

Before we get ahead of ourselves, we gotta prepare the materials for Yaoyao once she arrives. It’s been a steady year and then some since her design was revealed, and she’s been hinted at for just as long with several leaks that have erupted about her design, gameplay, and model being tossed around amongst the Genshin community. But now that she’s on the way, we officially know what she needs, so let’s take a look. As a Dendro polearm, Yaoyao is going to need the Quelled Creeper drops from the Dendro Hypostasis in Sumeru. This isn’t too far of a stretch and is honestly really nice, because this means you don’t have to go to two different places in order to collect all of the materials that you are going to need from her boss. It’s a fairly simple boss that doesn’t give you many opportunities to openly attack it, you’ll mostly be dodging and shielding most of the time while biding your moment when it’s time to whale on it. You’ll need to bring a Dendro character, funnily enough, in order to defeat it quickly since on low health, it’ll spawn three dried-up looking sprouts that are linked to the Hypostasis, and your job is to attack them with Dendro to revitalize them. In order to speed up the process, you can bring an Electro to speed up the process but it is not a necessary element when it comes to fighting the Dendro boss.

Ascension Materials That Are Surprisingly-Not Surprisingly Found in Liyue

Although Yaoyao’s boss is in Sumeru, the materials that she will need to ascend her are going to be found in Liyue since she is indeed a Liyue character. This can make it easier for players who have been around for a little bit longer because this means it’s going to be so much easier to grind for her. Likely chances are that you already have most of her materials and, if nothing else, we already know where most of the materials can be found. The first of these Liyue materials that she is going to need is Jueyun Chilis. I’m hoping for some interesting lines about her possibly knowing our wonderful chef, Xiangling, and about the dish that she specializes in. Until she’s home though, just know that she’s going to need about 168 of these little chilis. Luckily, they come in batches of three and can be found just about anywhere in Liyue if you know the right nooks and crannies to look.

The other material that Yaoyao needs are drops from slimes, it doesn’t matter what region they come from or which variant you hunt since they will all drop the same type of Slime that you’ll need for both ascending Yaoyao and increasing her Talent Branches. If you find that you do not have enough slime drops from having already killed many of their kind, then never fear, because you can always refer to your handy dandy notebook, I mean, Adventurers Journal. This bottle of information comes in the form of a book and will list the many types of enemies that you have encountered in your journey that includes bosses, world bosses, and even slimes. Once you scroll to the slimes, you can hit Navigate and slime icons will begin to pop up on your map, showing you where the largest groups of slimes are going to be to make it easy for grinding multiple at once. There are plenty around in each country, Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru both in the rainforest and in the desert so you shouldn’t have too much trouble trying to grind for them. It’s probably better to do so, but if you find you’re missing one or two and you really want to ascend that level or talent branch then you can peruse Paimon’s Bargains where you can consolidate your many wishes trying to get Yaoyao and turn that into the material you can build her with.

Talent Requirements

Yaoyao originates from Liyue so, naturally, her talents are going to be there too. Easy enough, the domain can be found in the depths of Jueyun Karst. After unlocking the puzzle by fighting some enemies and cracking some rocks, you now have access to the Taishan Mansion. Yaoyao requires the Diligence Level-Up materials which can be farmed every Tuesday and Friday, with Sunday being the day when all Talent and Weapon materials can be accessed. She will also need slime drops in order to up her levels as well as Daka’s Bell once she reaches Level Six and up. Characters that want to unlock their later talent levels need World Boss Materials, and the ones that Yaoyao is going to need are the Bell from the Shouki no Kami, the Prodigal Challenge. This boss is only available once you complete the Archon Quests in Sumeru, so it is important if you want to strengthen her to catch up on the storyline. I’ll just keep telling myself until I actually do so.
