Year one in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is definitely a foundational year. It gives you time to learn the basics of agricultural farming and raising livestock. You also get to decide which eligible marriage candidate you want to spend your life with. From year two, farming opens up with the introduction of hybrid crops.

How to Unlock Hybrid Crops

Once you have finished year one in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life and enter your second year. Takakura will soon tell you that someone slipped some seeds into his pocket when he was in the city. When he came home and planted them, Vinnie was the result. This three-headed, talkative plant will fuse different crops together to make hybrid varieties. He can also fuse flowers with a number of crops too! Vinnie will accept the crop in either seed or produce form, so it is really up to you which route you would like to take.

Vinnie is quite temperamental though, and he will not produce hybrid crops for you as soon as you meet him. You will need to talk to him consistently until he is friendly towards you and only then will he offer this service to you. This doesn’t take too long as you can talk to him repeatedly. You can also check how much he likes you on the same screen as the other Forgotten Valley residents.

There you go! You can use the above tables to successfully grow all of the hybrid crops in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. Not only do they sell for more, but fellow Forgotten Valley residents will often ask for both the hybrid crop and dishes that are created using them. So, it is always a good idea to keep some on hand at all times. Once you have successfully grown the crop, you can use the seed maker to make more of the seed and avoid having to combine them with Vinnie again. Plus, you get two seeds for every crop that you insert. Not a bad deal.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life does not hold your hand when it comes to getting into the nitty gritty of farm life. Not only do you have to find the hybrid crops through trial and error, but certain aspects of the game aren’t explicitly stated. Such as the ability to guide your child into the career of your choice. Happy farming!
