What Do Gear Brands Do in Splatoon 3?

The fictional brands that manufacture the equipment in the Splatoon games do more than just make the inklings and octolings look stylish. Each one of them makes their gear more or less likely to unlock an ability when you’re leveling them up. When they up the chances of an ability to appear, they make it 5x more likely to do it, whereas the unfavored have only 0.5x chance.

Splatoon 3 brings back all of the brands already existing in Splatoon 2 and introduces three new ones: Barazushi, Emberz, and Z+F. Some brands have a way more extensive catalog of items than others, but they’ve all got a distinctive style that, when you’ve played long enough, becomes very recognizable.

If you’re looking to gather the perfect gear to match and complement your main weapon, here’s a list of which abilities each brand makes more and less likely to roll.
