Learning about the different types of districts is one of the most important aspects of Frostpunk 2. These districts are the literal building blocks of your city, and their uses, placements, and build order should matter, and the only way to know that is by learning about each of them. Here’s a comprehensive guide to all the different types of districts in Frostpunk 2.
All Types of Districts in Frostpunk 2, Explained
Extraction District
In the game’s prologue, you’ll learn about the Extraction and Food Districts. The Extraction District focuses solely on extracting goods from a tile that contains a deposit, whether it is Prefabs, Materials, Oil or others. Each Extraction District will continuously extract resources until the deposit or source runs out. Once they run out, you can destroy them and get a partial refund on your Extraction Districts because they are almost worthless if the deposit runs out.
Food District
Food Districts harvest food for the city. They are crucial to your population’s survival, and it is always a good idea to have a stockpile of food because you might run out of food tiles to extract. You’ll also destroy them for a partial refund when the food deposit runs out.
Housing District
Housing Districts provide you with shelter and heating for your growing population. It is a common misconception that building these increases your population, but it only houses the people you either bring in from expeditions or as your city naturally grows. There are cases where you might see your heat index drop, but it is mainly due to some of your population not having housing.
Industrial District
Industrial Districts offer two things: production of Goods and Prefabs. Each Industrial District can be ordered to produce either Goods or Prefabs, and you’ll need several Industrial Districts to sustain your growing city. These Goods reduce crime and provide more income, and Prefabs help you construct more buildings.
Logistics District
Logistics Districts can only be built on stations located near the corners of the stage. You have to frostbreak areas to get to the station node and build a Logistics District to unlock expeditions. Once you have one Logistics District, you’ll have a Frostland Team to run expeditions. Building more Logistics Districts will give you more Frostland Teams so you can run more expeditions.
