Announcements like this usually happen during the Electronic Entertainment Expo, but seeing as how Microsoft unveiled its Xbox One console in May 2013 before the biggest gaming show, it’s only fitting that it makes some waves prior to this year’s event.
The company will remove the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One system and sell the machine for $399. If you decide later that you need Kinect, it will be available separately this fall.
Here’s the best part: You can buy the Xbox One without Kinect starting June 9th.
Microsoft revealed the news this morning, much to the surprise and most likely delight of interested Xbox One buyers. Personally, we enjoy using Kinect to navigate through the system menus and apps, but considering Sony’s PS4 is $399, a price cut puts both products on even ground.
