If there’s one superstar that knew how to excite a crowd in the late 80’s and early 90’s, it’s the Ultimate Warrior. A fast, energetic powerhouse of a wrestler, Warrior fought his way to prominence in a number of matches, including a record time Intercontinental match against Honky Tonk Man. His most memorable performance, though, came with WrestleMania VI, when he fought against champion Hulk Hogan, defying the odds and eventually getting the gold on wrestling’s biggest stage.

Now, the Ultimate Warrior isn’t available in the main roster of the game – he was offered a pre-order exclusive for GameStop with WWE 2K14 – but he will be available eventually as a downloadable character. You can also play as him in his 30 Years of WrestleMania match against Hogan. Once you do, here are a few tips to master the Warrior. If you can, that is.

How do I perform the Ultimate Warrior’s press slam in WWE 2K14?

The first thing you have to do is earn enough energy to activate your Finisher/Signature. Once it’s set, have your opponent good to go with an Irish whip (b or circle button), then activate by pressing the Y or triangle button, depending on your version of the game. If you do it right, Warrior will pick his opponent up and hover them high in the air, then drop them down. After that, you’ll have the option to either pin them, or press the Y or triangle button again to bounce into the ropes and perform a full body slam on top of your opponent.

It’s an impressive move, especially against larger guys in the roster. They may take a little more time to wear down, but it’s certainly worth it.

What other moves can I execute with the Ultimate Warrior?

There are several good ones.

First up, Ultimate Warrior is good with standing kicks. He can either deliver one by holding down the X or square button, or, coming off the right hold, nail an opponent with one up close.

In addition, he has a great top-rope technique that’s easy to use, where you can deliver a double axe-handle smash on a standing opponent. Just make sure they’re within range, and not using a counter as you’re coming off the top rope. Get them in the right position and you’ll deliver it with ease.

Finally, keep in mind that Warrior is both strong and fast. He’s ideal for nailing an opponent with a body slam, quick punches and counters. Try him out for a few matches, and you’ll see exactly what we mean.

WWE 2K14 is available now for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
