Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures announced a release date for the film – December 18, 2015. The film features several talents from both the movie and video game world, with Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) directing and Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond) writing the screenplay. Blizzard senior VP of story and franchise development Chris Metzen is on board to co-produce the film, alongside Charles Roven and Alex Gartner for Atlas Entertainment, and Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni for Legendary.

A teaser trailer for the film was shown a few months ago at San Diego Comic-Con, and word has it that the early test footage looked outstanding. Let’s hope the film adaptation lives up to the hype. You know, for the horde.
