Get ready for that vanilla World of Warcraft classic feel, because Blizzard just revealed pre-launch test details in addition to PC specs. The brutal original World of Warcraft experience that I remember so well from back in the day is coming back and is officially set to launch on August 27th. To prep, Blizzard is hosting a pre-launch test that starts today and will end tomorrow, August 9th. This is a way to launch on a much smaller scale to anticipate bigger issues come day 1 when everyone can jump in.
Want to get in on the action? You’ll need an active World of Warcraft subscription and account. That’s it! Blizzard will be monitoring those playing to detect any issues that could bring down launch day, so that it will be a smooth experience for all from the get go.
One thing to note is that any progress made during this time will be wiped come launch, so cap out to 15 if you want (that’s the pre-launch cap), but know that you’ll be starting over when August 27th rolls around.
As far as PC specs go:
- Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
- Processor: Intel core 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X3 8750
- Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 501 MB or AMD Radeon HD 4850 512 MB, Intel HD Graphics 4000
- Memory: 2 GB Ram (4 GB for integrated graphics)
- Storage: 5 GB
- No controller support is supported
- Resolution: 1024 x 768 minium
And there you have it! Pretty easy considering the graphical nature but good to know nonetheless. As for the full game itself, World of Warcraft Classic officially launches on August 27th exclusively through Battle.net. Are you excited to revisit those good old times?
