Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the groundbreaking sequel to the gory co-op adventure Vermintide, saw a surge in popularity over the weekend. In just four days, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has managed to surpass over 500,000 units sold on PC since its launch on March 8, according to developer Fatshark.
In today’s announcement, Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund mentioned that while half a million units sold was certainly a goal for the developers, the team hadn’t anticipated reaching this milestone in such a short amount of time.
“We are proud and happy that gamers worldwide have taken Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to their hearts,” said Wahlund in Fatshark’s latest press release. “500,000 games sold was a milestone that we had, but not less than a week after release.”
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is certainly one of the most popular new games available on PC right now. The console version hasn’t even been released yet, which speaks to the impressiveness of this milestone. The game’s popularity will continue to surge once the console versions release later this year. Fans interested in Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on console can sign up to beta test the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions on the game’s official website.
According to their roadmap for Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the developers at Fatshark plan to spend the next couple of months tweaking the game and making improvements. Fatshark is working toward developing dedicated servers for Warhammer: Vermintide 2, as well as mod support and the first DLC in April.
