The Activision developed FPS The Walking Dead dead game has earned a subtitle: Survival Instinct. Unlike Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Game which is more directly based upon the comic, Survival Instinct is based directly on the AMC TV show and is developed by Terminal Reality.

The game is described as a “a do-whatever-you-need-to-survive first-person action game that brings the deep, character-driven world of AMC’s Emmy Award-winning TV series onto console gaming systems and the PC in a frightening, new way. The game puts players in the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.”

AMC also announced a contest that players can ear a role in Survival Instinct. Fans can watch The Walking Dead on Sunday nights between now and December 2 for clues and enter them on the contest’s official site, with a winner chosen each week to appear as a character in the game.

Terminal Reality will use photos of the winners the help create characters who die over the course of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Each contest winner will appear in a different level of the game, with a special challenge to track down all the winners.
