Gabe Newell has been making waves in the industry for quite some time now, with plenty of projects that put his team at Valve in the spotlight – including Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.  But now he’s getting the honor he truly deserves, as he’s joining Shigeru Miyamoto, John Carmack, Michael Morhaime, Dr. Ray Muzyka, Dr. Greg Zeschuck, Tim Sweeney and a few others in the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame.

In addition to receiving the award at the yearly DICE Summit, he’ll also be a speaker during Thursday’s conference.  The award will be presented by Epic Games president Mike Capps.

“Gabe is a living legend of the video games industry, and his relentless focus on customer experience has made our whole industry a better place,” said Capps.  “Valve’s unconventional success is an inspiration for us all, and I couldn’t be more pleased to present Gabe’s Hall of Fame award.”

Congrats, Gabe, you earned it!
