If there were any games that managed to take us by surprise at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year, it was Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, a thrilling new adventure where you could use technology to your advantage while fighting back against a big corporation.  But it appears that we’ll be getting much more than the video game, if a recent news story proves to be true.

According to various sources, Ubisoft has begun buying up a number of domain names, all of them having variations to what appears to be WatchDogsMovie.com.  Could it be that the company is already looking at making it a Hollywood production before the game officially arrives?

Ubisoft’s been dabbling in movies before.  It’s got a deal in place with Sony to produce an Assassin’s Creed film, and a project for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is also in the works.  So while hardly shocking, we’re surprised that Ubisoft is moving forward so quickly with this new franchise.  At least give us a demo, guys!

Watch Dogs should hit stores sometime in 2013, with the movie following one to two years later, if all goes according to plan.
