Epic Games Just Removed the Best Way to Earn Fortnite XP

I guess we just have to play this mode for fun now.

Anyone who played Chapter 5, Season 1 of Fortnite knew that there were some incredible ways to boost your XP and finish off a Battle Pass in record timing. It looks like Epic caught on to our dirty tricks and has put a stop to one of the most popular XP grinding methods available.

I can’t deny the fact that I spent quite a lot of time just sitting in the LEGO Fortnite mode watching my Battle Pass level rise through the roof while supplementing it with a healthy supply of Jam Stage afk’ing. Sure, I also really enjoy playing the LEGO mode as it’s meant to be played, but with the variety of different games available on the market, I find it hard to grind through 200 levels on a Battle Pass.

My main goal was to unlock Peter Griffin, to be completely upfront and honest with you all. I needed to have him in my game as soon as possible, but there was a catch — I was never going to hit the level with the amount of time I had available to me. So, the LEGO and Jam Stage AFK glitch worked wonders for me, allowing me to not only unlock the Family Guy himself but a variety of other rewards.

On a money-making front, I completely get where Epic is coming from — if players want to cheese their way through the Battle Pass as quickly as possible, they can purchase Levels to get them to the rewards they want the most. I would say I’m a pretty casual Fortnite player, so the thought of spending nearly $100 to unlock a virtual Peter Griffin skin was off of the table for me, which is why the AFK Glitch was a Godsend at that time. Sure, it took me about 140 hours overall of letting the game just hang in the background, but it got me interested in Fortnite again after a pretty long hiatus.

Many fans are bound to be upset about this change, especially those who are in the same situation as me — there are plenty of excellent skins in the Myths and Mortals Battlepass but nothing as great as Peter Griffin in my eyes. I guess jump pads and specific maps are back on the menu for gamers hungry to unlock the next levels of their Battle Pass until something else is discovered.
