Yesterday’s new release Starhawk comes bundled with a rather nice surprise: it’s Warhawk, lovingly ported from the PSONe.
All you need to do to enable your download is redeem your Starhawk Online Network pass code, which you’ll find in the back of the Starhawk manual.
In other Starhawk news: all future maps will be free to download. It seems developers Lightbox weren’t so keen on the divide created by the monetizing of map DLC.
Dylan Jobe, Lightbox’s top man wrote on the PlayStation Blog yesterday, stating “We really didn’t like how in Warhawk when we released a new map pack, it forced these divisions on our players. And after we released three expansions, our player community was pretty fractured.”
“We are incredibly excited to announce that all map packs for Starhawk will be free. Yeah, you read that right…FREE,” said Jobe. “Whenever we release a map pack you won’t have to pay a friggin’ dime! And we’ve already started the early stages of our next map pack for you guys.”
There will also be “some paid DLC content in the future,” but what exactly that is we don’t yet know.
And as if that wasn’t enough Jobe also brought news of a contest over at Major League Gaming, with more than $20,000 worth of prizes.
