Starfield Launch Day Blue Moon Event News

Starfield’s Launch Glory Could Get Overshadowed by a Rare Space Event

You'd have to wait 14 years for the next one.

Starfield’s release date is approaching quickly, with many of us preparing for its early access launch on August 31 and its full release five days later. While there are many reasons why BGS may have chosen this date, no one could have suspected that an incredibly rare celestial event – one that only occurs once every 14 years or so – would happen at the same time. Starfield is releasing alongside an event known as the Super Blue Moon.

As reported by Space.com, the Super Blue Moon tonight, August 30, is a combination of the slightly more common Blue Moon and supermoon. In other words, two moons occur in the same month while simultaneously appearing closer to the Earth than usual. While it may not appear bright blue, it’ll still be an impressive display.

And Starfield will be released later in early access, shortly after everyone is left in awe over the display. We can admire space in the real world before appreciating it in the game.

Make sure you’re awake after sunset tonight, as the next Super Blue Moon isn’t expected to appear until 2037. If it’s your first time seeing one, this is an excellent opportunity to go out there and enjoy it.

Starfield’s release time, on the other hand, will come slightly later, with early access available starting August 31 in the western hemisphere and September 1 in the east. If you plan on waiting until its Standard Edition and Game Pass launch date, you can jump into the action on September 5 or 6, depending on your region. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the Super Blue Moon, talk about it with friends, and get a good night’s sleep before the big launch day.

After sitting outside and admiring the Super Blue Moon, it may be time to plan our Starfield character builds in anticipation of the game’s release.
