Video game film news is going bonkers this week, between the progress of the Assassin’s Creed movie and Tom Hardy signing up for the Splinter Cell flick. But Square Enix, not to be trumped, made some progress with a special move of its own.
Director Scott Derrickson, who previously worked on the horror films Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, has signed on with CBS Films to helm the forthcoming Deux Ex film, based on the franchise that came roaring back last year with Human Revolution.
“Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said in a statement. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie.”
Human Revolution will help serve with the movie’s plot, though no casting details have been revealed yet. It’ll be better than Twilight for sure, though.
