In Game Informer’s preview of Spider Man: Miles Morales, we got a huge dose of serotonin thanks to gameplay footage of a kitty named Spider-Man.
Not only is Spider-Man the Cat super cute, the little backpack buddy can also be quite useful. As strange as it might sound, Spider-Man the Cat can be used as one of the game’s Finisher moves.
If you decide to call on him as a Finisher, Spider-Man will jump out and give the person you’re fighting a sharp swipe with his murder mittens.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales | Look Out, Here Comes Spider-Cat
From the footage and still images we’ve seen of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it’s clear there’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to all of the fun things you can do in the game.
That said, we weren’t expecting to be excited about the opportunity to befriend a cat in the game until we saw his fuzzy orange face pop up in preview footage shared by Game Informer.
The clip starts out with Miles commenting that Teo’s bodega has been robbed and that he should step in and help. The video then cuts to Miles taking out a group of bad guys before discovering a rather unusual site… a cat in a backpack.
The cat’s name is Spider-Man (cute) and he belongs to Teo, the bodega owner, who’s overjoyed to see him returned safe and sound.
As normal as Spider-Man the Cat looks, he has a few special qualities about him. First, the cat is fine with being carried around in a backpack and doesn’t seem bothered by being swung around in the air. What a badass.
Second, he’s a friendly neighborhood bodega cat which is awesome in and of itself. There’s nothing quite like going into a store to grab a snack and seeing a cat just chilling on the counter.
It’s charming and not at all unusual, we promise.
What is unusual is how Miles is given permission to bring Spider-Man the Cat along with him. Your first thought upon hearing may be something along the lines of, “Why should I carry Spider-Man the Cat around with me?”
The video answers the “why” at the very end by showing how Spider-Man the Cat can be used to help Miles in battle, acting as a “Finisher” of sorts.
When you use Spider-Man as a Finisher, he leaps out of the backpack wearing his own Spider-Man mask and goes right for the enemy’s face with his claws out.
An angry cat isn’t exactly the worst thing to encounter in a fight, but it’s certainly something that can throw you off guard.
It’s all fun and games until Spider-Cat comes out swinging.
As fun as it is to joke around, the footage of Spider-Man the Cat genuinely brightened up our day and made us even more excited for the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on November 12. We hope it had the same impact on you as well.
