Insomniac Games has been a PlayStation developer for the majority of its life. Sunset Overdrive was one of the few times it created an exclusive title for Microsoft and its Xbox line of video game consoles. However, many players have been curious about the future of the Sunset Overdrive franchise on PlayStation because of its exclusive nature with Microsoft in the past.

However, according to a report by Push Square, Sony Interactive Entertainment head Shuhei Yoshida confirmed in an interview with Inside Games that Sony does indeed own all of the rights for the Sunset Overdrive franchise and all other past works from Insomniac Games.

There is no telling if a new Sunset Overdrive game will be making its way onto a PlayStation console in the future. However, there is officially nothing stopping Sony and Insomniac Games from doing if they decide to go forward with development.
