Before the next installment in the series as well as a live-action adaptation were announced, it seemed like the Saints Row franchise may have run its course. However, since the two announcements, new life was pumped back into the IP, and with the latest leak apparently revealing a remastered version of the third entry, it seems that Deep Silver is looking to bring new popularity to the franchise.
Listings for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Saints Row: The Third Remastered recently appeared on the GameFly website, but they were not there long before being taken down. Luckily, the Internet being what it is, screenshots were taken before that happened. As can be seen in the tweet below from Gematsu, neither of the versions displayed any box art, but they did come with an alleged release date of May 7, 2020.

As it is with all leaks, rumors, etc., be sure to keep the salt nearby in case this turns out to be fake. That said, a remastered version of Saints Row: The Third makes sense in a lot of ways. It is the entry in the series that really turned up the dial when it comes to outlandish things, adding zombies and the likes of Burt Reynolds. Needless to say, if this leak ends up being real, fans will surely have no issue returning to Steelport to create as much chaos as the first time around.\
Saints Row: The Third is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, with a remastered version allegedly arriving on May 7th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you.
“The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control.
“Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy in the most out- landish gameplay scenarios ever seen, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire. Strap it on.”
