It feels like every month we’re reporting that a new video game adaptation is in the works, this time with the Saints Row franchise front and center. Helmed by Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray, a new Saints Row movie has been confirmed to be in development.
The latest report comes from Deadline sharing the news that F. Gary Gray is helming the latest adaptation. For those that may not recognize the name, Gray worked on projects such as Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious.
The news of a movie adaptation is surprising, but one a lot of gamers are looking forward to! Saints Row first busted out onto the gaming seen back in 2006 and its Grand Theft Auto-esque game style and comedic writing made it an instant hit. It’s also a franchise that hasn’t slowed down, each entry receiving positive feedback and leaving players wanting more.
Deadline also reports that production is between Fenix Studios, Koch Media, and Occupant Entertainment and according to the site, it’s in very early stages of development, which means no anticipated release date or casting choices at this time.
Gray is definitely a busy man, he’s also currently working on another gaming project in addition to another movie based off of Echo. It will be interesting to see his creative take on the Saints Row world and see how all that mayhem translates to the big screen.
