Rev your engines, folks, because the Gran Turismo franchise could very well be returning sooner than you think.
In an interview with Silicon Republic, Sony’s Michael Denny indicated that not only is Gran Turismo 6 being worked on diligently over at the studios of Polyphony Digital, but we could also see it this year, the next evolution in the long-running racing franchise.
Ah, but there’s a catch. Many would assume that the game would be arriving on the just-announced PlayStation 4 hardware. However, that isn’t the case. Denny noted GT6 alongside the other PlayStation 3 games coming this year, including The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, and new chapters in the Assassin’s Creed and Grand Theft Auto franchises.
There is a possibility a change could be made in the development, since the game hasn’t been formally announced yet, but, for now, it looks like it’ll be skidding into this generation of games, rather than the next. Ah, well, at least we have DriveClub, right?
