The video included Director Morimasa Sato, Art Director Tomonori Takano, and Producer Peter Fabiano. They started out talking about the main protagonist from Resident Evil 7, Ethan Winters.

Ethan is back as the main character of Village because the developers knew that his story wasn’t finished. How does Ethan end up in this village exactly? This we’re still unsure of.

Peter Fabiano gives a little more insight into one of the development designs when fleshing out the world of Resident Evil Village.

“We’re really proud of how Resident Evil 7 turned out so we took elements from that title and really grew them in scale for Resident Evil Village. Not only did we up the graphics and elements of survival horror, but we focused on making the world and the atmosphere all around it feel both beautiful yet terrifying.”

The game’s scale focuses far beyond the notion of a tiny village. The sweeping mountains and forests also play a big part in evoking the sense of scale the team is trying to achieve.

The developers also mention they put a lot of emphasis on letting you play the game the way you would act if you were really in that situation yourself.

The team went with more eye-catching designs when it comes to the visual depiction of horror in Resident Evil Village, which is a nice contrast to the drab designs of the Molded in resident Evil 7.

The devs also hinted at a storybook titled “Village of Shadows,” playing a larger storytelling role in the game. Exactly how this is incorporated remains to be seen, but it has the potential to be something unique.

Resident Evil Village is coming to next-generation consoles at some point in 2021. No exact release date has been confirmed at this time.
