The excitement is real for the Resident Evil 3 remake, especially when looking at the massive success that the Resident Evil 2 venture saw from Capcom. With the demo having been met with high praise, the launch date can’t come soon enough, but it looks like the player base might have even more options than we originally thought because evidence that a Resident Evil 3 Nintendo Switch port has been found.
It didn’t take long for dataminers to dive deep into the Resident Evil 3 demo’s files to uncover some potential secrets about what fans can expect. Among their findings, spotted by modder FluffyQuake, is a prompt to purchase the game through the Nintendo eShop:
The findings were posted over on the modder’s YouTube channel but the video was swiftly taken down. In addition to the listing above, there was also the autosave feature prompt that also referenced the Nintendo Switch version. The usual “This game has an autosave feature, please do not turn off your” prompt was spotted but among the source platforms, in addition to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, was also a save option for the Switch version as well.
Given that the Resident Evil 2 remake and the Resident Evil 3 remake are incredibly graphically demanding, it would be interesting to see how the port would happen. That being said, the Switch has surprised us before with its capabilities, most notably with The Witcher III, so really anything can happen at this point.
If a Resident Evil 3 Nintendo Switch port is to happen, it will be long after launch. For now, we can rejoice in the fact that we can get our hands on the full remake here soon because Resident Evil 3: Nemesis launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on April 3rd.
