Red Dead Redemption Remaster Rumor Is Fake, No Red Dead Redemption 2 Alien DLC

It was all fake, an "experiment"

Two big reports circulated the web earlier this week, one we covered, one we didn’t, regarding Red Dead Redemption. One was about a possible Undead Nightmare DLC (but with aliens) for Red Dead Redemption 2, whereas the second one – one about a Red Dead Redemption Remaster – we didn’t because it sounded bogus as all hell. We covered the DLC because we’ve heard rumors of that in the past with enough sources pointing towards that being the real-deal, as well as alien Easter eggs in the game itself, but the OP has confessed: it was all an “experiment.

“There is no dlc for Red Dead Redemption 2 or remake of the first game as far as I know,” said the OP in a new confession on Reddit. “This was an experiment I have always wanted to do regarding the spreading of rumors in video game culture. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and wondering how I was going to do it, then I saw red dead online was basically being ignored (most likely not, but the fans are in the dust about it, including me) so this was basically a good starting point for me.”

Though I get what he’s saying, it’s not that news sites are gullable – not every rumor gets covered – it’s that some have internal sources that may reflect simiilar reports. Or, like our friends over at PC Gamer mentioned, it’s likely an SEO traffic thing rather than “oh look, this rumor MUST be true.”

Still, at least he was honest?

In the meantime, Red Dead Online is still seemingly abandoned and Red Dead Redemption 2 has no aliens.

Bummer.

As for the game itself, Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
