The road to Red Dead Online has been a quiet one lately, spawning many Red Dead Redemption 2 players to feel like Rockstar all but abandoned this particular mode for the western game. Now a new update is on the horizon for Red Dead Online offering three new unique roles as the team expands upon the beta period for what this multiplayer service model has to offer Red Dead fans.
The next Red Dead Online update is slated for sometime later this Sunday and aims to evolve the online experience into something more meaningful with new specialists roles. Each role will offer a unique path of progression and in-game experience, while also providing tailored gameplay mechanics to each specific role.
Three New Roles Coming to Red Dead Online
There are three new roles in total for players to choose from to start out with.
- Bounty Hunter
- Trader
- Collector
The Bounty Hunter is one that fluctuates between law and chaos. They can capture, they can kill, they can even become a designated target themselves if they choose to be extra dishonorable. This class is for those that really want to be whatever they want to be in the wild west, rules be damned.
The Trader is for the inner businessman and has the Cripps companion that has all of the necessary know-how when it comes to trading, buying, and selling furs, skins, and so much more. Traders are definitely slower paced than Bounty Hunters, but they are definitely valuable.
Last, but not least, the Collector. The Collector is for the player that likes to explore. According to Rockstar, “Look for a mystic travelling saleswoman in the wild to get started down the Collector’s path, searching for lost jewelry, rare arrowheads and other treasures to sell as individual pieces or highly valuable sets. As you progress, you will gain access to tools that help your search including Refined Binoculars, a Horse Lantern and even a Metal Detector, as well as gaining additional skills to help you seek and discover the world’s greatest rarities.”
The upcoming update also promises new content and overall improvements with more substantial changes coming down the pipeline.
As for the game itself, Red Dead Redemption 2, and its Red Dead Online counterpart, are currently available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
