Just a few hours following the announcement that the NFL had an agreement in principal with its locked out referee union (they’ll start tonight, sending the replacement refs back to Foot Locker, heh), rumors are circulating that EA Sports is taking their next football game a degree further when it comes to realism; they want to bring in real refs as well.
According to an article from Kotaku, cited from “two different sources close to the NFL Referees Association,” talks have begun to bring actually rendered referees to the next chapter in EA Sports’ ongoing football series. They’ve been using generic models for previous games, but I suppose EA Tiburon is looking to capture authenticity wherever they can find it… not that Madden NFL 13 was lacking it by any means.
This is following a frustrating situation revolving around the Packers/Seahawks game that took place this Monday night, where Green Bay lost the game on a controversial touchdown call that had several fans and coaches up in arms. This move would make sense…along with bringing the real refs back.
We’ll keep you informed once it’s official.
