Pokemon Rumble Rush Mobile Permanently Shuts Down This Summer

If you're looking to play the Pokemon Rumble Rush mobile port, you're going to have a bad time. It's time for Pokemon Rumble to sashay away.

Mobile games are influx, especially now with so many stuck in quarantine due to COVID-19 but one mobile experience is ending its time early. Pokemon Rumble Rush is shutting down this July, marking this particular ‘gotta catch ’em all’ adventure as completed in the chronicles of mobile gaming.

When does Pokemon Rumble Rush shut down?

As reported by our sister site, SuperParent, Pokemon Rumble Rush on mobile will be shuttering its doors completely on July 21, 2020 at 6:59 PM PT. As is custom when online games are being shuttered, premium item purchases have been removed, such as the Poke Diamonds players can buy, though players can still actively enjoy the game until July rolls around. Any in-game items already acquired can also still be used, just no longer purchased.

But just because it’s coming to a close doesn’t mean that the game isn’t going down without a fight. The Shaymin Cup is bringing battle royale to the Pokemon game on April 21st and there are reports of at least one more event before the game’s end in addition to a May push with one final “big” update. According to the official Pokemon website, “An update for Pokémon Rumble Rush will go live toward the end of May that will add more Pokémon than have ever appeared before to the game, including some rare and powerful Pokémon. Battle Royale will also get powered up, with Battle Royale-specific effects added to summon gears. So catch the proper Pokémon, equip them with summon gears, and have a go at Battle Royale!”

Though there were microtransactions, Pokemon Rumble Rush is a free-to-play title, which is common for mobile experiences with additional buyer options. While many free-to-play adventures are thriving, Pokemon Rumble Rash’s time is just not now after its 2019 launch.

The positive note for Pokemon fans is that there is another big Pokemon game available on mobile devices thanks to Niantic. Pokemon GO continues to add new features and offers monthly special events to keep players engaged. With COVID-19 continuing to spread and quarantines being enforced, the team has also made adjustments so that players don’t suffer despite not being able to go outside for themselves

Pokemon Rumble Rush mobile officially ends on July 21. Thoughts on the latest mobile game’s closure? Sound off with what you thought about the mobile Pokemon experience over on Twitter @PrimaGames! You can also catch up on what’s new with Pokemon GO with our Game Hub here.
