A new PlayStation State of Play showcase is coming soon, though Sony wants to be clear about what to expect. With every announcement, every showcase, and every tease, the internet goes wild with theories about what gamers will see next. Because of this growing hype culture, it’s important for companies to be utterly transparent in their plans for what they have to show off.
The official PlayStation account tweeted out what is in store later this week on August 6th, including what fans can expect to see:
State of Play returns Thursday at 1:00pm Pacific!
What to expect:
▪️ A focus on upcoming PS4 & PS VR games
▪️ A few quick check-ins on third-party and indie games from June’s PS5 showcase

According to the post above, Sony made it clear that there will be no “big” PS5 announcements, which means a possible price point and release date reveal won’t be included in the upcoming State of Play. The team also mentioned that they will be confusing heavily on this gen with PS4 and PSVR titles as well as third-party adventures and those delicious indie games!

The PlayStation State of Play is set to go live on August 6 at 1 PM PT, 4 PM ET. It will last roughly 40 minutes with a “great lineup in store featuring plenty of new gameplay footage and other game updates.” No specific games were revealed to be a part of this showcase at this time, though the Japan PlayStation Blog did mention a little tease about more Crash Bandicoot.
