Though Sony is sitting this year’s E3 out, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a lot of new things to share with gamers coming down the pipeline. As talk about the upcoming generation continues to circulate, a new rumor has entered the playing field that could be our first look at the PlayStation 5’s controller as seen in the below dev kit.
Keep in mind that the system below is not what the PS5 will look like, it’s simply a dev kit. That being said, the controller is a different story. Shared on Twitter by both ‘SuperSonic4K’ and ‘Tidux’, the below images — if true — could be our first real glimpse at what the PS5 controller will look like. As you can see, it’s slightly more rounded, more to the shape of the Google Stadia’s controller, with a slightly different feel all around:

The touch screen pad on the controller itself does fall in-line with previous leaks about Sony looking into that technology for the next gen. The company also previously filed a patent for this feature, making it entirely possible that this could be what gamers will have their hands on when the new gen finally arrives.
Like with all leaks and rumors, take everything with a grain of salt until the company themselves makes an official announcement. Still, more images continue to emerge, making the possible new look even more intriguing ahead of any big announcements Sony could be planning for 2019. It’s also possible that if they aren’t fake, they are prototypes. We’ve reached out to a few of our insiders to see if we could learn anything more.
Though Sony will not be at E3 this year, Microsoft is coming out swinging. With more on cross-play, new acquisitions, and so much more, rumors have been swirling at a possible Next Xbox reveal as well! We’ll have to wait until June to see about that, but it does get those wheels turning as to what the next gen of gaming will have to offer.
