Not everyone is crazy about owning a plain black game system, and this past week, Sony opted to do something about that by announcing a new white-colored slim PS3 model for U.S. release, coming next week for $299.  But let’s say you want an even more festive color.  Well, if you live in Japan, you’ll certainly have the option to get one.

Sony has announced two new models of the slim PlayStation 3 system in Japan, set for release on February 28th.  The colors are Garnet Red and Azurite Blue, and match with both the console and the controller.  The 250 GB models are currently set to sell for 24,980 yen (or $279), with no extras included.  Amazon also has these models listed for release in Europe at a slightly higher price of $439, but with a 500 GB hard drive included.

There’s no word on whether these models will ever find their way to the U.S., but considering that we’re getting the limited edition Crystal White console very soon, it wouldn’t shock us if they eventually made their way here.  But, again, no games included, so prepare to buy some along with your new system…
