Wanted to be the size of an ant? Now you can be with Obsidian’s new game ‘Grounded.’ A very different game than the usual title out of this studio, Grounded looks adorable with a healthy blend of challenging combat and exploration. Build, live, survive. Check out the official game reveal from X019 London below:
Though Obsidian is known for RPGs with games like Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, and the most recent The Outer Worlds, there are various studios under the Obsidian name and one of those studios was itching to make a survival game.
“Grounded is a true passion project for the team,” said Feargus Urquhart, CEO at Obsidian Entertainment in a recent press statement. “We pride ourselves as being a creative studio and can’t wait to bring our expertise to the survival genre.”
“Grounded offers our unique take on survival games, creating an unforgettable experience,” added Adam Brennecke, Game Director at Obsidian Entertainment. “It’s a perfect setting to flex our creative muscles. We want to create a versatile sandbox where players can create their own memorable experiences.”
“We first saw Grounded in development last year when Obsidian Entertainment joined our team. The game exemplifies the innovation we’re excited to see from them in the years ahead,” said Matt Booty, CVP of Xbox Game Studios.
But it’s not your usual survival game, it’s one where the player is forced into a perspective they have never experienced before: being the size of an ant. When you’re small, even everyday objects become terrifying and don’t even get us started on the ‘giant’ spider towards the end!
Check out the trailer above to see what Obsidian’s new game Grounded has to offer before it joins the Xbox Preview Program in Spring of next year ahead of its Summer 2020 launch!
