Death Stranding is one of the most divisive titles of the year. Hideo Kojima and his team turned gaming on its head with a seemingly new genre rich with a philosophically-driven narrative and unique gameplay. While many praised the story for what it was, the divisiveness game from the gameplay mechanics itself. Despite that, the desire for a sequel is high and it looks like we can expect at least something new from Death Stranding on the horizon according to actor Norman Reedus.
For those that may not know, Reedus played the main protagonist, Sam “Porter” Bridges, as the world’s best Delivery Boi. Prior to Death Stranding, he’d never even heard of Hideo Kojima, he only took the job because Guillermo Del Toro told him to “Just say yes.”
In the video below, Reedus mentioned “And then I met Hideo at Comic-Con in San Diego, he came out back when we were gonna do a different game, and he showed me what he was working on. I was just blown away, the guy’s like a super-genius, and then I became friends with him, started working with him, and we kept going. So we did Death Stranding, which was a huge hit, and we’re in talks to do other stuff.”
He then later mentioned that the pair is also in talks for “more Death Stranding stuff” as well, which could mean either the full-blown sequel Kojima-san has talked about previously or perhaps some DLC.
In a previous interview over at Vulture, Kojima mentioned that he’d love to continue working with Norman Reedus, though perhaps not specifically for the continuation of Death Stranding. He mentioned that if a Death Stranding sequel were to come about, he would “start from zero,” meaning a sequel wouldn’t necessarily be a continuation of the characters as we know them.
