If someone tells you they didn’t like NieR: Automata, they either didn’t play or they’re lying. OK, so I’m (mostly) kidding, but it was a phenomenal title that enthralled gamers all over the world. With over 4 million copies sold on PS4, it’s understandable why there would be so many eyes on what game director Yoko Taro will take on next. While we don’t have an official reveal, the creative personality did tease a new project on the horizon.
Thanks to a recent livestream featuring Yosokue Saito, the game’s producer, recently teased the next game saying that he “really wanted” to share more about Taro’s next adventure. Fortunately for Taro, unfortunately for us, he didn’t go into much detail outside of the confirmation that it’s in the works and apparently far along. That, and he also said that he would make Taro reveal more for when the pair can get together for a new livestream.
While I’d personally like to see a new IP, rumors of a NieR: Automata sequel have been rampant pretty much since launch day. Pair that with Taro’s previous commentary about his desire to continue that narrative with a new NieR entry, it wouldn’t be a far-fetched assumption to think that a sequel would be the likely next game we see from the eccentric director. Still, I can dream of a brand new narrative or even a long-awaited sequel to Drakengard and you can’t take that away from me.
So, there…
