Overview
One of the more interesting familiars, you won’t find Idler anywhere in the wilds of Ni no Kuni. The only way to find one is to turn in a claim ticket that you can purchase for 25,000 casino chips. Once you accumulate enough and purchase the ticket, take it to the solosseum and turn it in to get an Idler.
Proper Care and Feeding
Idler is unique in that its stats are all very well-rounded, making it suitable to fit whatever role you want. Its only notable stat is very high accuracy, which is great since its weapons of choice are axes and hammers (which reduce accuracy). Because it has the Defend command, with your bonus points you could theoretically have three or more Idlers filling every role in the party!
We recommend putting 10 points or so into accuracy and the remaining 40 into whichever attribute helps the role you’ve chosen for your Idler. Melee attacker? Put the rest into Attack. Tank role? Split the bonus points between Physical and Magical Defense.
Metamorphosis
Unlike the other unique familiars, Idler levels up like any other familiar, reaching a maximum of 99 in its final forms. The two forms an Idler has to choose from for its second metamorphosis are All-Seeing Idler and Evil Idler.
All-Seeing Idler is a light elemental familiar with a bit more of an emphasis on elemental tricks. It has a higher Magic Attack score and learns some powerful storm elemental tricks and at level 50 it learns Second Wind, a strong full-party heal.
Evil Idler on the other hand, is specifically geared toward taking out enemies. It is a dark elemental familiar with a higher physical attack and is complimented by Black Blast, one of the most powerful dark element tricks in the game.

Best Buddies
The great part about Idler is that with such well-rounded stats, it works well with just about anyone. It is a Minima Family familiar so you will most likely want to place it with Marcassin for the affinity boost. Of the familiars Marcassin has affinity with, Idler has some of the better physical scores so it’s likely you will take it down the route of serving as a melee fighter. If that’s the case, back it up with a strong support familiar like Relixx or Turbandit.
Tips and Tricks
If you have the patience to recruit a Toko, it makes a great partner for an Idler because of all the support abilities it learns. Have Toko use all the stat buffing tricks it knows then send in Idler to clean up with attacks, elemental tricks and beefed up defense.
