Dungeons and Dragons has a mass appeal for tabletop RPG fans and a big reason for that is how much freedom this experience allows. Pretty much any other franchise can be crossed over into this universe, the freeform is unreal and allows for the imagination to have a limitless playground. Since we won’t be getting a new Mass Effect game anytime soon and we had to say goodbye to Commander Shepard previously, this latest homebrew adaptation brings the galaxy we’ve fallen in love with closer than its ever gotten before: to tabletops everywhere!

“The Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game is about storytelling in worlds of swords and sorcery and Mass Effect 5e takes that storytelling to the stars,” boasts this heroic homebrew. “Both shares elements with childhood games of make-believe. Like those games, D&D is driven by imagination. It’s about picturing the alien landscape beneath the two-sunned sky and imagining how an N7 soldier might react to the challenges that scene presents.”

The creators of this adaptation added, “Instead of a Dungeon Master running the campaign, this role will be known as the Galaxy Master in Mass Effect 5e. ” The GM creates missions for the characters, who navigate its hazards and decide which paths to explore. The GM might describe the entrance to Osiris Station, and the players decide what they want their operatives to do. Will they jump down to the hanger bay? Propel themselves with jetpacks? Or use a biotic’s powers to increase their mass, “affixing” themselves to the surface of the asteroid?”

Anything with Turians has me sold, just saying.

Though BioWare has promised that there isn’t an end in sight for Mass Effect, though focus right now is on Dragon Age 4, this awesome Mass Effect 5e homebrew is just the thing to tide fans over until something more official comes along. That, or you could be like me and play through the trilogy for the 30th time. You know, you do you.
