We just reported that during a recent Ubisoft earnings call that Ubisoft plans to launch 5 AAA game titles by March 2021. 3 of the five are confirmed already with Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Gods and Monsters, but it looks like our previous predictions of the new Assassin’s Creed game being among them will be joined by a brand new Far Cry game.
According to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, he added confidently to another Tweet about the earnings call that the remaining 2 mystery titles would be Assassin’s Creed (though he doesn’t confirm Ragnarok) and a new Far Cry experience. Who needs surprises anymore when you’ve got Schreier?
As we mentioned in our previous post that just went live, 2019 didn’t see a new Assassin’s Creed game, though 2018’s Odyssey received a plethora of fully fleshed out expansions that almost felt like an entirely new game. Since the team over at Ubisoft decided to pump the breaks a bit on annual releases, though the studio has been working on a new Assassin’s Creed, a 2020/2021 launch for a new release only makes sense.
According to numerous leaks, the next Assassin’s Creed franchise will be centered around Vikings with Assassin’s Creed: Ragnarok. While not confirmed, the leaks are a little too universal and intricate to be made up, especially when looking at the extensive retail “oopsies” that have occurred as well.
As for Far Cry, it’ll be interesting to see where they take the franchise next following the mixed reception of Far Cry New Dawn, a continuation to the wildly popular Far Cry 5. We’re assuming they aren’t going to go the maniacal-cult-leader-in-Montana route again, so we’re eager to learn more about what sort of story they will weave this time.
Ubisoft has confirmed that they will have more to reveal in mid-May with an even bigger announcement during E3 when they take the stage once more.
