The Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath release date has been set with an exciting new trailer detailing how RoboCop plays into the fighting game in addition to a brand new story, friendships, and so much more. Dropping later this month, the exciting new story expansion is exactly the perfect reason to jump right back into the chaotic fray that is Mortal Kombat 11.
Mortal Kombat 11 brings back the franchise in a way that many didn’t see coming: what’s dead doesn’t stay dead and all of time is an illusion to be played with. That’s exactly what Aftermath looks to carry on and even sets up the stage for Nightwolf, Sheeva, and Fujin to have an even bigger role in the grand scheme of Mortal Kombat. As NetherRealm revealed in a new blog post, fans will be able to see more of Fujin’s devotion to mortals while getting an up close and personal viewpoint of Sheeva’s loyalty to Sindel. Oh, and Shang Tsung is back! And predictably here to cause trouble.
Spoiler Warning
Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath brings players right back to the ending where Liu Kang takes out Kronika alongside Raiden as they reach the Apex of time where it all began. As they begin their ritual to restart history and undo what Kronika has done, Shang Tsung rolled up with his crew of Fujin and Nightwolf to change the day. According to the studio, “Shang Tsung explains that they were Kronika’s prisoners, released only upon her death, and they’ve come to stop Liu Kang from making a deadly mistake. During Liu Kang’s final battle with Kronika, he destroyed her Crown. If he tries to restart history without it, both the Hourglass and reality will be destroyed. All realms will be lost.”
New stages are also coming with this update and for free for those that already own the game and the inclusion of Friendships. Keep that spin in your skin, friends, because Friendships are the exact opposite of Fatalities. Plus, hugs.
From the return of Friendships to the new stages including the Dead Pool, Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is exactly the kind of content MK fans deserve. Plus, how could anyone not want the iconic Robocop in the roster? He’s incredible! As for when the expansion arrives, Aftermath is slated for a May 26th release. For those that preorder on PS4, there’s a swanky free dynamic theme featuring Raiden and Liu Kang up for grabs as well!
