Snake’s in a warzone

Konami’s forthcoming effort, Metal Gear Solid 4, has been exposed a little by Japanese magazine Famitsu.

There are screenshots of what we presume is a much older Snake in the magazine, he’s wearing an electronic eyepatch of some sort, which we believe to be a device that will help Snake communicate with his robot pal, Metal Gear Mark II.

Trusty helper Otacon has been revealed to be in this game, and he’s pictured in the Famitsu spread. Also, though we don’t see any shots of them, we know that Meryl and Raiden are back for this game too.

Kojima spoke to Famitsu about the setting of the game, which is set in the middle of a massive war between a number of countries, the magazine had shots of a futuristic city in ruins, with soldiers, tanks and  mechs patrolling the streets.

Apparently the storyline will be affected by actions chosen by the player. Snake, for instance, may end up  joining the side of a certain country as he’s killed someone from another.

The animations in the game are set to be much more fluid, especially with facial features, which, along with everything else, are set to be much more “natural”.

We’re set to see more on the game at the Tokyo Game Show, where a realtime demo will be shown, with footage from PS3 tests.
