Minecraft is running into some vast success, not only on the PC front, but also on the Xbox 360, thanks to an exclusive deal with Microsoft. However, Mojang, the publishers behind the game, want to expand its world even further – into Sony territory.
In an interview with iGamer, Mojang’s Jens Bergensten stated that he’d like to see the world expand to another console – in this case, one of Sony’s “Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out, we’ll consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely.”
Minecraft on Xbox Live Arcade has done a superb job translating the building/exploration system to a console, while at the same time keeping the online co-op aspects intact. And millions of users have logged in to take part in the fun, so it’s no surprise that Mojang wants to expand its success to another system. It’s just too bad it thinks the Wii U isn’t worth the trouble…
Minecraft is available now for PC/Steam and Xbox Live Arcade.
