When Phoenix Wright accused Miles Edgeworth of being a sham, he meant to say he was an imposter. The Among Us official Twitter account has revealed in a recent tweet that a free cosmetic will be dropping in the popular mafia-style game on September 9. In a twist many fans didn’t see coming, the cosmetic will be of Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth’s suit and hair, bringing together the worlds of Among Us and Ace Attorney.
Prior to the reveal, the Among Us account teased the cosmetic with a silhouette and subtle puns hinting at the design’s origins, writing that the account “heard [your] appeal for a free cosmetic drop” and was “calling someone to help settle this matter soon.” A few fans in the replies correctly guessed the cosmetic was Miles Edgeworth, but even those who predicted correctly were surprised by the confirmation a few days later.
This cosmetic will be obtainable in Among Us shortly after the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection releases on September 6. If the idea of an Ace Attorney-themed cosmetic in Among Us seems outlandish, the announcement of the Investigations Collection was even more of a surprise. The second title in the Ace Attorney Investigations series, Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit, was originally released in 2017 on the Nintendo DS in Japan, but never received an official English translation. Bringing Miles Edgeworth into the world of Among Us is an unexpected but welcomed way to celebrate such a momentous occasion.
Besides the relevance to the upcoming collection release, Miles Edgeworth makes for a great member of Among Us’s cast, whether as a Crewmate or an Imposter. While Phoenix Wright means to protect his clients from guilty verdicts, Edgeworth seeks to dish out guilty verdicts. Phoenix would have a tough time in emergency meetings if he was always trying to defend whoever was being suspected. While Edgeworth has left behind his days of getting a guilty verdict no matter what, you don’t always have such luxury in the far reaches of outer space. He was also suspected of fabricating evidence in his youth, which is in-line with Imposter behavior.
Playing along with such references may make gameplay all the more interesting, but even without them, seeing an Among Us bean with Edgeworth’s hair and suit is a certified day-brightener. After uncovering culprits in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, fans can hop onto Among Us and weed out Imposters—or, if necessary, Crewmates. There are no objections here.
