Konami has announced release plans for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5 masterpiece – and it appears that we’ll be getting it in two installments.
Up first is Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, which will serve as a prologue for the events to follow in the follow-up The Phantom Pain. It will feature a “concentrated story mode” that introduces the new gameplay elements for the series.
In Ground Zeroes, players will control Big Boss as he sneaks into a prison camp, attempting to rescue an important refugee.
The game will be available in spring 2014, and can be downloaded on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live (for Xbox 360) for $19.99, while retail versions and Xbox One/PlayStation 4 downloads will go for $29.99.
No word yet on when Phantom Pain will arrive, but we’re guessing late 2014.
