Mega Man Game Boy Classics Coming to Nintendo 3DS

Hope you charged your system's battery.

This past weekend, Capcom paid tribute to Mega Man with the release of a limited edition light-up statue that quickly sold out. However, it also showed some love digitally by announcing a string of new Virtual Console titles coming to Nintendo 3DS in the months ahead.

Dr. Wily’s Revenge, along with Mega Man 2, 3, 4 and 5, will debut via Virtual Console, along with a pair of Game Boy Color titles, Mega Man Xtreme 1 and 2.  The games have some similarities to the NES original releases, but with a few minor tweaks to make them work better on a handheld system.

Mega Man 5 stands out the most, according to a description from a Capcom-Unity blog post.  “Instead of Robot Masters, Mega Man fights Stardroids, and instead of a typical Mega Buster charge shot, he has a Mega Arm projectile attack (similar to the MM6/7 Rush upgrade).  It’s a very clever entry that’s been hard to legitimately play for years, so pick it up!”

There’s no word on release dates or pricing, but the games are expected sometime this year.
