Grand Theft Auto 6 talk is nothing new and with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, the rumors surrounding the future of the GTA franchise have only gotten more common. From anonymous leaks on social media, to murmurs from alleged devs, the rumor mill is very active with this particular franchise. Added to that growing pile is a massive leak found over on reddit that reveals a lot about what could be happening with Grand Theft Auto 6.
Allegedly codenamed Project Americas, the upcoming game is rumored to be set in both Vice City and a new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro. It won’t be open world, according to the leak, but it will be formulated after Grand Theft Auto 5, even with a very missions taking place in Liberty City.
Another aspect of this leak debunks a huge rumor from earlier this year in the way that a male protagonist will be the main focus, not a female one. A previous leak promised a female lead, but according to this info – that was incorrect. The leak also cites that it won’t aim for the realism of Red Dead Redemption 2 as the devs supposedly wanted to focus on Arcade elements as well.
According to the leak, “You play as an up and coming drug lord-wannabe named “Ricardo.” Another key character called “Kacey” is a part of the narrative. You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area (and visa versa?) before making connections with big-time drug lords and making your way up. Multiple cities. There will also be a GIANT prison which will play a part in the game.”
Supposedly the new theme is heavily inspired by Netflix’s Narcos and will highlight a drug empire but on a scale never before seen in GTA. The leak also promises that this title will be next-gen only, which is something numerous leaks have already shared before.
