It turns out that BioWare wants us to continue traveling in the Mass Effect universe sooner rather than later.

The company’s latest downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, Leviathan, was recently shown at the EA Summer Showcase event, where we posted a preview talking about what to expect in the new DLC.  While the company initially said that it was coming later this year, it’s actually coming…end of summer.

BioWare confirmed today that the DLC, priced at 800 Microsoft points ($10), will be releasing on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in the United States on August 28th.  It’ll be arriving a day later in Europe, but that’s not a strenuous wait.

Still, the company was mum when it came to the Wii U version of the game, which is set for a day-and-date launch alongside the system.  Leviathan hasn’t been confirmed for it just yet.  But don’t be surprised if the team announces it as a first-day download through the Nintendo Network.

Anyway, prime those copies of Mass Effect 3 for your game system.  It looks like you’re returning to space…
