Nintendo’s Mario Kart franchise reached a new plateau with the 2011 release of Mario Kart 7 for 3DS. Now it’s the Wii U’s turn. In Mario Kart 8, players will once again choose from a variety of characters from Mario’s world, racing through new terrain and a few classic tracks from previous releases. However, it will include new anti-gravity tracks that will have you racing up walls and upside down as you compete against friends.
Like MK7, this sequel will come with a number of multiplayer offerings, though Nintendo hasn’t released all the details yet.
Mario Kart 8 will arrive in spring 2014. We’ll have a first look for you in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, here’s the trailer.
