Kojima talks more MGS4

Game will include “Psychological battles”

Metal Gear Solid 4 is to feature “psychological battles and effects” says the eccentric but much-loved creator of the series Hideo Kojima, though, as is often the case with the man, what that means we’re not entirely sure.

These details stem from a speech by Kojima made last weekend at Australia’s GO3 Entertainment Expo. His talk was a massive hit at the show and focused largely on the history of Metal Gear titles, and the new touches in the upcoming PS3 game.

“To make it very simple, in the past Metal Gears, Snake was going into enemy environments–so everyone apart from Snake was an enemy,” Kojima said (thanks Gamespot). “This time it’s a warzone, so you have country A or country B, so Snake could interfere with either of the countries. It does not necessarily mean that everyone is an enemy to Snake. This creates a new tension in playing this new hide and seek.”

“I would also like to challenge the PS3’s CPU power for not only what you can see, but also psychological effects, or psychological battles, where it can affect your gameplay.”

There was nothing in the way of new footage unfortunately, and Kojima shared zilch in the way of gameplay additions.

Keep checking back to the Metal Gear Solid 4 game hub for more on the game as it’s revealed.
